Block Paving can be considered for use in areas of high or heavy use, often as an alternative to tarmac or concrete in freight yards, town centres or to denote different road types such as pedestrian areas or to slow traffic on housing estates or car parks. In particular where there is a need for a hard wearing, long life attractive surface.

Block paving, when laid with the correct foundation can provide good direct drainage to soil without the need to provide additional drains for water run-off as would be required with large areas of concrete.

if you are considering laying an area with block paving, do take care to ensure that you have appropriate foundation material to match the underlying soil or subsoil so as to avoid later subsidence.

Also ensure that the edging is well fixed to avoid slippage which leads to unsightly spreading of the blocks over time
